About the Author

Gladys Betty Franks Bell, a native resident and community leader delivered by a midwife in our family home in Plymouth, Florida. I was born to Richard Allen and Irma Morgan Franks. I still remain a faithful member of St. James A.M.E. Church in Plymouth, FL. Same church home of my parents until their demise.

I graduated from Florida A&M University, Tallahassee, Florida with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology. While working in the Orange County Headstart Program with children. I continued my education in Winter Park, Florida at Rollins College and graduated with another degree. This one is a Bachelor of science in Early Childhood Education, K through 6th grade.

My baby brother Aaron Franks, my baby sister Irma Franks, my cousin Delores Shelton, the daughter of my fathers sister Ella Friggs, and myself are the oldest living generation living in the Franks Family. I felt compelled to write this book history accountability for the family. This book is also written for others who may want to read about the love and joy that my family experienced, even though it started out rough and turbulent with my father.
